Makcik Minah prepared preserved mango in the kitchen. She mixed the mango slices with sugar and salt. After a while, the mango slices became soft.

Cell sap in mango cells is hypotonic to the outside salt & sugar solution.
water will move out from the cell sap to surrounding by osmosis.
or
water will diffuse from the cell sap to surrounding.
cell loses water/ becomes plasmolysed.
thus the mango slices become soft.
